Advanced Fertility Certification – Dr Leah Hechtman (PhD)
Prior to her life as an Acupuncturist, Sian was a naturopath and completed advanced diplomas in naturopathy, nutrition, and western herbal medicine. Sian uses this diverse knowledge to treat her patients with an expanded skill set.
Sian loves community, connection, and relationships. She loves getting to know the person and being an integral part of their support network. In Sian’s 20s she spent time traveling around the world, building connections and relationships with people. In 2013, she volunteered in Nepal and experienced spending time in a Tibetan Medicine Clinic, further clarifying her passion for connection and helping.
Sian identifies as part of the LGBTQIA+ community. She and her wife were lucky enough to conceive their children through assisted fertility and, through this, gained valuable insight into the highs and lows that this experience brings. This journey has led her to dive deeper into the work of helping those who are also on the same path – whether heterosexual couples trying naturally or seeking further assistance, same-sex couples, or solo parents.
As part of this deepening, Sian recently completed the Advanced Fertility Certification with her long-time idol, Dr Leah Hechtman (PhD) – a globally respected naturopathic clinician and leading voice in reproductive health. This specialty training is designed to elevate professional expertise by advancing knowledge on the intricate relationship between fertility and holistic health. The certification has further enriched Sian’s ability to support patients navigating fertility journeys with insight, empathy, and evidence-based care. Professional development is very important to Sian, and she actively seeks out mentors and the latest evidence regarding fertility – whether it be from Western or Chinese medicine – to continually enhance her practice.
Sian is big on balance. She loves exercise, eating well, and feeling great, along with a glass of wine.
All of our Yin acupuncturists have been trained in the same style of acupuncture and work collaboratively as a team. So, if you ever need or want to change practitioner, we can assure you that you’ll receive a very similar style of treatment.
