Lou MacGraw – Acupuncturist
Lou is a degree-qualified acupuncturist with a background in naturopathic medicine. She is passionate about supporting women, families and children through gentle, holistic care that nurtures the body’s natural capacity for balance and healing.
Her approach is grounded in the wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine, combined with evidence-informed practice and a deeply patient-centred philosophy. Lou offers personalised treatments to support stress and anxiety, menstrual and hormonal health, fertility and preconception care, pregnancy support, digestive concerns, and children’s wellbeing.
Lou’s journey into complementary health began in 2010 when she commenced studies in Naturopathy at Endeavour College. A few years later, while navigating her own fertility challenges, she experienced the supportive effects of acupuncture firsthand. This sparked a deep curiosity and connection with Chinese medicine, leading her to complete postgraduate studies in Acupuncture. Lou has been mentored by highly experienced practitioners whose guidance continues to shape her compassionate, thoughtful and clinically grounded approach today.
Lou has also trained in Toyohari, a Japanese style of acupuncture inspired by classical Chinese medicine. This gentle system focuses on balancing the flow of energy through the meridians using subtle, intuitive techniques, including non-insertive needles and specialised tools. Toyohari is particularly supportive for children and those who are sensitive, and complements the calm, nurturing environment Lou aims to create in the clinic.
At the heart of Lou’s practice is the Traditional Chinese Medicine principle of harmony and balance. She weaves together acupuncture, moxibustion, herbal medicine, nutrition and lifestyle guidance to support the whole person. Her intention is always to offer a warm, safe and supportive space where patients feel heard, cared for and empowered on their health journey.
Outside of the clinic, Lou is a mum to her beautiful daughter and enjoys the simple, grounding rhythms of daily life – slow mornings with a cup of tea, walks with her staffy, backyard chicken cuddles, baking sourdough, visiting local markets and spending time in nature.
